Great North Heating provides and services Air Quality and Filtration systems in your home.
Exhaust & Hood Fans
Exhaust and hood fans are necessary for pulling moisture and odors out of a concentrated area like your kitchen and bathroom. A properly installed exhaust and hood fan paired with an HRV will ensure fresh, clean and comfortable air in your home.
Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV)
An HRV is a separate ventilation system that works with your furnace to exchange stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air. It filters air contaminates, controls moisture levels, and dilutes odours throughout the entire home. High humidity levels in your home can cause growth of harmful bacteria triggering allergy or asthma flare-ups and respiratory problems. An HRV system is essential to prevent condensation on windows and mold growth which is common for homes in the Ottawa Region.
Humidifier
Too dry? Humidifiers can help relieve symptoms of dry skin, irritated nose, sinuses, throat and itchy eyes. As for your home, they can reduce static and preserve wood, i.e. furniture and hardwood flooring.
Thermostats
Thermostats are a tool to measure and control the temperature in your home. Smart thermostats are available and can sync to a mobile device to monitor or adjust the temperature while you’re away. The Ontario government often provides rebates or grants to upgrade your thermostat to a more efficient one like a Smart thermostat.
Make sure to recycle your old thermostat responsibly. Great North Heating is an official participant of the Thermostat Recycling Program. Click here to learn how we can help you recycle your old thermostat.
Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV)
Similar to HRVs, Energy Recovery Ventilators exchange stale indoor air with outdoor air. Have you ever been on vacation in a tropical climate and wonder why the room still feels like a wet blanket even though you have the AC set at 20 degrees Celsius? This system is ideal for warmer climates and works with your Air Conditioner filtering out humidity from outdoor air as it exchanges with stale indoor air, thus removing that “wet-blanket” feeling.
